A gravel tour straight out of a picture book! The tour starts in Velden am Wörthersee. At the beginning you follow the Drauradweg on fine gravel paths towards Villach. The ideal route to warm up your (c)old muscles 😜. Here you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the majestic Landskron Castle. As soon as your legs are warmed up, the steepest climb of the route awaits you. 💪Here one or the other will have to push the bike up the mountain briefly before continuing on to the Ossiacher Tauern on perfect gravel. At kilometer 27 you can park your bike briefly and walk a few meters to the worthwhile “Jungfernsprung” viewpoint. From there you have a great view of Lake Ossiach and the Gerlitzen. ⛵️⛰️ We continue along the Ossiacher Tauern. The pleasant climbs fly by as you are constantly distracted by the wonderful views of Lake Ossiach. 💦 When you arrive at the idyllic Tauernteich, you have the opportunity to park your bikes again briefly and hike a few meters down the gorge path. There is a small ruin here where a bed frame 🛏️ could once be found. Unfortunately, today all you can see is a bent metal frame that, even with a lot of imagination, hardly reminds you of a bed. At kilometer 44 you reach the highest point of the tour and from now on there is a descent that is fun from the first to the last meter. If you want to slow down for a moment, we recommend a detour to the Hohenwart ruins.🏰 A lost place from the 12th century, whose impressive remains bear witness to the once mighty castle. Here, too, you have to park your bike at the edge of the forest and follow the signs on foot for a few minutes. The forest lake is also worth a bit of brake dust on the descent before you arrive back in Velden am Wörthersee at a rapid pace! PS: If you don't have to film a YouTube video, you definitely won't need 7 hours and 44 minutes for this tour. 🤭 So don't let the times put you off!
