In fog and shady -3 degrees Celsius, my early morning hike today took me to our neighbors in the Achterhoek 🇱🇺. I followed beautiful paths through the Kruusberg Forest to Haus Hagen. Unfortunately, the visibility wasn't great, but it has a certain mystical quality. Hagen Manor was founded in the Middle Ages as a fortified farm. It was owned by a family from the so-called landed gentry. Until the Eighty Years' War, the Sion Monastery was also located in the area, which was demolished during that war. After a fire in 1656, the house was rebuilt in its current form. Around 1900, De Kelder was used as a hunting lodge and then as a Scout clubhouse. In 1934, after a second major fire, it was completely restored and used as a regional museum. (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagen_(havezate)) And tomorrow we continue with our final hike with the WanderbarHelfen team, which I'm really looking forward to. Team: "WanderbarHelfen" From January 18th to March 15th, 2025, various groups will once again be hiking for a children's hospice. "Walk together - help together" is the motto of this year's fundraising hike.
