This route was planned by komoot.
Two peaks with the best views of the Caldera de Taburiente. I was just as lucky with the weather this time, so there was a fantastic view from the top. A fitting end to my stay on La Palma.
Even the journey there in the early morning (8.30 a.m.) with the sky still overcast was adventurous on the last km. The road was still tarred up to about 1.3km, then it turned into a dirt road with more and more potholes. Finally we had to park the car about 500m in front of the parking lot (Valencia). The ascent and the whole hike are strenuous (15km and around 600 meters in altitude) when the weather is getting nicer and warmer, but fantastic. The Bajanado is one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains on the island. It can be described as the only distinct peak in Las Palmas. It not only opens up a unique view of the caldera and its surroundings, but also of the Cumbres in the south and large parts of the west coast
The hike to Pico Bejenado is a bit arduous on the way up because the path feels a bit long, but as is often the case, the view is fantastic and the panoramic view from the summit is definitely worth the hike! 🤩👌🏻 PS: The path at the beginning can theoretically be driven up to the information board, but I wouldn't recommend that because the "road" is far too rocky and really not recommended with a rental car.
We actually wanted to climb up to Pico Bejenado from the La Cumbrecita car park. However, there are no free parking spaces up there. Access must be booked online in advance. We spontaneously decide to hike an alternative route from the Rother hiking guide to our desired summit. It is easy to get to the starting point by car. It starts sunny, but clouds come later. Once we get to the top, we occasionally get deep views into the caldera. The problem of capturing 3D in 2D becomes apparent again. On the way back we see the Pico at its best, cloud-free.
Beautiful tour to Pico Bejenado with great views of the Caldera Taburiente from its southern edge. From the summit of the Bejenado, it first goes east over the ridge of the Caldera to the Roque de Los Cuervos and from there over a descending ridge to the starting point of the tour. On this ridge you have a great panoramic view - on the left the Cumbre Nuevo with the famous cloud fall and on the right the valley view of Los Llanos de Aridane with the Atlantic Ocean in the background. The paths are quite well developed in the upper area. Ascent and descent lead through the pine forest at the foot of the caldera. When descending, caution is advised due to the risk of slipping due to the fine lava debris - good shoes and trekking sticks are helpful. Greetings Barney
From Calle Valencia to Pico Bejenado with great views of the Caldera. A very strenuous tour on a predominantly alpine route. From the Pico Bejenado past the Mirador el Rodeo, it goes along the ridge towards Roques de los Cuervos and back again. Very steep, alpine, exhausting but very worthwhile 👍😃🌞
Very nice tour, fantastic view of the caldera! If the temperature is high, take plenty of drinks with you. Parking is also possible 1.2 km further up after the bumpy slope!
