Today's circular walk is just under 13 kilometers and takes you to the highest peak of the Hoge Veluwe: Signaal Imbosch in Gelderland. The mountain is no less than 109.9 meters high, but that's not all: in this hilly area it's actually up and down the entire trip, so put on your best shoes and take on the challenge!
The literal highlight of the day is soon after the start of the route. But before you reach the top, you first view the artwork of artist Eugène Terwindt. He built the work near the remains of the old Nazi village that stood here. He made “a man cannot sink lower”, which absolutely applies to this place. Although the irony is that you are going to climb a few more meters.
About 600 meters away you will already reach the top of Signaal Imbosch. You are standing here at an altitude of almost 110 meters, but you hardly notice it. The top is located on a former sand hill, which is now covered by countless pine trees. But that should not spoil the fun! You walk through a beautiful bridge and serene ponds in the direction of a natural playground. If you're out with the whole family, this is a wonderful place for a break and picnic. While the kids go on an adventure, you enjoy the fresh air and nature.
About a kilometer away you will once again look up at the Dassenburg. You climb to the top on a uniquely designed staircase, where you are rewarded with a great view. Enjoy it from the bench and relax, because you're not there yet; another High point awaits you.
As mentioned, it is up and down here on the Veluwe and that is once again proven by the Emma Pyramid: this 98-metre-high lookout hill was built by people. Haven't made enough altimeters yet? Then you climb the tower of 30 meters high. You just can't touch the clouds! Just before the end point you make one more climb. For those who no longer have the strength, don't worry; on the fire tower, which used to be used to signal forest fires, you can't go further than 'only' the first floor. Whether you stay on the ground or not, the fire tower is a worthy final highlight of your day. A day on which you made 130 altimeters!
At the playground in the forest there is a brasserie where you can eat and drink. If you don't want to depend on this option, it's best to take enough water and snacks with you in your backpack along the way.
There is a parking lot at the starting point of the walk. If you come by public transport, take the train to Rheden station, from where it is a good kilometer walk to waypoint 8, where you can pick up the route.

This route was planned by komoot.
It is a truly beautiful route across the Veluwe. It does have one caveat: the starting point, a parking lot, is no longer accessible by car. If you want to drive to the starting point via Komoot, you will probably do so via Google Maps. And that is where Maps goes wrong. It thinks that the parking lot is still accessible. In addition to the above, Maps also does not take into account that you are not allowed to drive to the Posbank at all with your car or motorcycle during the weekends. That will definitely cost you, just like me, a fine. So YES the walk is beautiful but parking is unfortunately impossible during the weekends.

Beautiful route for this month of August. From restaurant 'dehoutplaats'. Along beautiful landscape, through hilly forest area, along streams and as a gift a huge hilly purple heath landscape. 🌸.
