Trent Country Park is a 413-acre (167 ha) area of ancient woodland and parkland. Once a royal hunting forest known as Enfield Chase, it's now part of the London Greenbelt. Miles of runnable, well-kept trails explore the estate, passing a couple of small lakes and an obelisk at the highest point. The park isn't exactly hilly, but you can get a bit of elevation on a lap of the perimeter and it's a scenic run.
Trent Park running club meets here three times a week for a club run if you're local to the area. The club also hosts the Triffic Trail, an annual 10km race which loops through the park.
Our Tour traces the park’s perimeter, running around the golf course and north through Williams Wood. You’ll pass the mediaeval Camlet Moat on the northern edge of the park and climb up to the obelisk at almost 295 ft (90 m). We’d highly recommend stopping here for a breather to enjoy the views southeast back over London. The descent follows a section of the London Loop – a 150 mile (241 km) orbital path around Greater London.
This Tour measures just over 6 miles (10 km) with around 360 ft (110 m) of ascent. The Equus cafe in the equestrian centre to the south of the park is well-placed for refreshments. Start at Cockfosters underground station, which is on the Piccadilly line and close to the southern edge of the country park.
