A great mountain for kids to summit. It's quite a hike for little legs but the views are incredible along with a great sense of achievement
This tour is tough - very steep overall. But it's worth it.
During the trip to Stac Pollaidh we were rained out for the second time on our journey. Luckily not at the top of the slope. The wind there was already an ordeal. During the ascent and descent. The tour led back to fantastic panoramas, which are well reflected because this mountain stands quite alone. De Stac is considered a sandstone castle above the peat. We are now in the far northwest of Scotland, characterized by island-shaped mountains made up of Torridonian (800 million years old sandstone) amid swamps and lakes made up of Lewisium (2.7 billion years old and among the oldest rocks in Europe).
A fantastic hill in Assynt, with wonderful views. An easy to follow route to the top, short in comparison to some of the other big ticks nearby. With the opportunity to fit in some scrambling if you want to ~ scrambling is avoidable, unless you are keen to bag the 'true summit'.
After we spent the morning with a round trip, we wanted to leave for the last hike this afternoon. Exactly on the minute the clouds tore up and the sun gave us the most wonderful views. Yesterday we noticed the mountain with its unusual shape. From the parking lot it always goes up to the summit and then down again on the other side. The tour is not very long but the views are simply wonderful. https://www.relive.cc/view/veqzXBwoB7O
This hike to the top of Stac Pollaidh (I can't pronounce that so I say 'Stac Polly') is one of my favourites. No matter how many times I walk it, the view is different every time. This time the rain clouds added a nice moody atmosphere. The eastern top is also easily accessible with a fear of heights. Are you going to do this walk in high season? Make sure you come early, because the parking lot fills up quickly ;)
Easy hike for amazing views, such a special place ⛰️⛰️⛰️
A great hike with beautiful views! Thank goodness we had hiking poles with us, as there are many stone steps, some of which are quite high, as well as steep ones! This hike is not recommended for anyone with knee problems!
