Would you like a scarce “hundreds” without a blatant mountain rating, but with everything else that the Kufsteinerland has to offer? Please, this brisk road bike tour is just right for you. At around 96 kilometers with a height of just 960 meters, you literally fly around the famous Kaiser Mountains and the Hohe Salve.

As soon as you get out of Kufstein, you are heading for the picturesque Walchsee - in the background the rugged peaks of the emperor provide a very special backdrop. In relaxed up and down you now drive through an idyllic valley through the Schwendt and near the course of the Großache to St. Johann in Tirol. You cycle on secondary roads to Oberndorf and over the Rerobichler forest ridge to Reith. Here, too, the bright Kaiserspitze shine impressively - simply beautiful!

On the way to Kirchberg there are a few small hills waiting for you, then it goes briskly downhill through the Brixental and on the paved bike path to the center of Westendorf. From there, the route bends and leads back through the hardly used Unterwindau to Hopfgarten and on side roads and bike paths via Wörgl to the Kufsteinerland.

Tip: If you like it particularly quiet, take the tour during the week. Because even if you mostly cycle on small side streets, they are a bit more crowded on weekends, because the Kaiser Mountains are a popular recreation and nature reserve.

Kirchberg in Tirol

Highlight • Settlement

Kirchberg is a small town in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps, at an altitude of 837 meters. Centrally located, it is the starting point for many beautiful mountain tours in summer. But even in winter, you can quickly reach the heart of a fantastic ski area via the Fleckalmbahn or the Maierl lifts. And not to be forgotten: With the addition of trails of varying difficulty levels, such as the Gaisberg Trail, the Lisi-Osl Trail, and the Fleckalm Trail, a lot has been done to make this beautiful spot attractive to mountain bikers.

Trail Reviews

FW
November 16, 2024, Kaiserrunde bei Kaiserwetter, Salve!

November hit with Max, from Oberaudorf around the Zahmer & Wilder Kaiser in great weather. It was still cold in the morning, but the sun was shining and we were in a good mood. Hardly any traffic and wonderful little streets. The first climb behind Ebbs is tough and you get nice and warm, with great views over Duchholzen to Walchsee, or rather past the south bank, before heading south on more great paths towards Kirchdorf, St. Johann and Kirchberg i.T. The ski areas are already sending their regards, it looks almost wintery, with all the hoarfrost in the shade and in parts real snow. After Westendorf behind the golf course there is a small serpentine road down to the Windauer and Brixentaler Ache and along it, which is nice. And the further cycle path via Hopfengarten and Itter to Wörgl is also easy to ride. Once you arrive in Kufstein, the Inn cycle path leads back to Oberaudorf in a relaxed and scenic way. All in all a great ride, will probably do it again in the summer.

Road bikes aren't really my thing, and I've ridden the good routes around Munich countless times. Also, N-1. Therefore: Selling (before the frame breaks - you never know when that might happen with ROSE) ROSE Reveal six RH 64 Carbon frame, handlebar, seat tube Best condition - for a ROSE bike 2 x 11 Ultegra waxed Schmolke Carbon wheelset 5 cm rim €3000 definitely negotiable

A cool road bike session with the two KSC and ÖSV national team athletes, Lisa Hauser in biathlon and Katharina Brudermann in cross-country skiing. Great girls.
