Slapton Sands Memorial

Highlight • Monument

The Slapton Sands Memorial remembers both the villagers and locals who had to give up their houses to let the army and navy practise for the D Day landings and to the service men who lost their lives during this exercise.
Exercise Tiger was ill fated with instances of friendly fire, miss managed communications and amidst the confusion German fast attack boats slipped in amongst the landing craft and sunk a couple. About 700 allies lost their lives here practising for the D Day landings.

Slapton Sands and Slapton Ley

Highlight • Natural Monument

Slapton Sands is an extremely picturesque beach that stretches for almost 2 miles (3.2 km) from Strete Gate to the village of Torcross. Slapton Ley is Devon’s largest natural freshwater lake and is a National Nature Reserve due to it having many rare species of plants and birds. Slapton Sands plays an important part in the survival of some of the UK’s rarest flora and fauna.

Beesands Beach

Highlight • Beach

Beesands is a amazing beach given its position. Devon's south coast is packed with tiny, craggy coves and all of a sudden Beesands' mile-long (1.6 km) shingle beach appears. The beach is lovely for swimming and paddling as well as watching small fishing boats come in with their catch.

The Cricket Inn

Highlight • Pub

A great pub in an excellent position. The Cricket serves really good food, looks after the beer perfectly and also has a few lovely rooms. It's on the sea front with great walking and the South West Coast path at the front door. They win lots of awards for the food and accommodation, it's well worth a stop.
Open every day 11:00 - 23:00.
Food served 12:00 - 14:30 & 18:00 - 20:30.

St Michael and All Angels Church

Highlight • Historical Site

St Michael and All Angels church is a grade 1 listed building. It was first built in 1431, rebuilding on the site of a previous church. The current church was then restored in 1874 and 1890.
