Campigna Village in Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi

Highlight • Settlement

Campigna is a small mountain town in the heart of the Casentino forests. Although it is currently a collection of a few houses, with a couple of hotels and as many restaurants, Campigna actually has an ancient past. It is believed that the first inhabitants of the area were Ligurian warrior shepherds, who arrived from the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea in the third millennium BC. Later the Romans settled, interested in defending the strategic position and exploiting the surrounding forests. Today the oldest building is a late 18th century palace where the Granduca hotel is located.

Two houses immersed in the forest, reachable only on foot coming down from Campigna.
Managed by the "Anime Casentinesi" association.
On one side of the refuge there is the Bivacco Ragù, free and always open.
