The Tour of Val Gallo and Val Mora is one of the most surprising adventures you will ever have in the mountains of Bormio. This journey takes you through two of the most picturesque and least traveled valleys in the area, offering breathtaking views and a real challenge for those who love two wheels. But be careful: the route has some technical passages to be tackled with awareness.
The route starts from the Cancano lakes, an iconic place in Alta Valtellina that you will surely have come across if you have already done bike tours in these parts. Easily accessible by car (there are ample parking lots, for a fee during the high season), by bus or by bike, the route begins flat along the gentle banks of the Cancano reservoirs. The first change of pace comes with the turn towards the Valle del Gallo, where paths suspended on the wall of the "hidden side" of Lake Livigno lead you to the climb towards Alpe Gallo. Although the slopes become more moderate, the narrowness of the path and the conditions of the terrain make the ascent demanding, especially in the first part, in the heart of the wood. After passing this section, the ascent to the Forcola del Gal becomes easier, marking the passage into Swiss territory. The descent to Alp Mora is probably the most technical and steepest of the Tour, with some short sections that may require you to get off your bike. Once you reach the bottom of the valley, the marvelous Val Mora opens up, where a slightly uphill path winds first among the trees, then along the scree, leading through the narrow valley. The return of the Tour takes place along the Val Mora in the opposite direction, taking you to the final stretch, the evocative road of Wine and Salt.
Be very careful if you decide to take this tour. The route is full of charm but not without difficulties: some stretches require a lot of caution and technical skill. The route is not suitable for electric bicycles. But if you still want to have a taste of the route, you can opt for a round trip along the wine and salt road up to Val Mora. This route is less technical, less steep and more appreciable even by those with less experience. Remember to bring a packed meal with you, as the only refreshment points are at the beginning and end of the Tour, near the Cancano Lakes.
Val Mora and Valle del Gallo are hidden treasures loved by those who live in Bormio, far from the tourist masses. This Tour offers you the chance to immerse yourself in a wild and untouched environment, where the only noise you will hear will be that of the wind blowing through the pine trees and the hum of your bike on the track. An unforgettable experience that will bring you into contact with the most intimate part of you.

This route was planned by komoot.
This route can also easily be taken in the other direction. The landscape and trails are incredibly beautiful
My favorite tour, this time modified: The tour started on the Ofenpass to drive the trail to Buffalora, and then additionally around the Lago di San Giacomo di Fraele, and after the Mora pass not up to Jufplaun and the beautiful, but somewhat difficult one Crossed to the Ofen Pass, especially via Val Mora / Val Vau into the Münstertal. Because the time with the post bus worked out, I already got on in Fuldera.
