Hiking
The town of Laufenburg can, without exaggeration, be described as the pearl of the High Rhine. The two cities rise picturesquely out of the sky-blue waters of the river, connected by the old Laufen Bridge. You can use them to get from the German to the Swiss part of the city.
The Laufenburger Acht is a very special adventure hiking trail for the whole family. The mascot LauRhy accompanies you to many interactive stations. There you will learn a lot about the history of the city, about nature and wildlife and how a hydroelectric power station works in a playful way. There are always beautiful views of the river and the two cities.
On the tour shown here, you actually describe an elongated eight and cross the Rhine four times. The starting point is in front of the Laufen Bridge, you can also return there. It is best to park in the Rheinterrasse car park or take the train to Laufenburg (Baden) and walk along Bahnhofstrasse to the start.
You first follow the banks of the Rhine on the German side to the hydroelectric power station. There the first river crossing awaits you and you enter Swiss soil. On this side you walk to the quaint center of the Swiss part of Laufenburg. Now it's time to cross the famous old Laufenbrücke for the first time, after all you want to walk a figure eight. Back in Germany, your path now runs in the other direction along the shore. You can reach Switzerland a second time via the Hochrheinbrücke. Following the interesting stations on the shore, you will reach the city center again. From there you already know the way back to the starting point.
Important in advance: Get the flyer for the Laufenburger Eight on the Internet (laufenburg-tourismus.com) or from the local tourist information. Bring some pencils. Those who have paid close attention will receive a small reward in the tourist information! The path is possible with prams, but a few stairs have to be mastered. However, these can be circumvented by taking small detours.
