The sun and the flowers are out, and so are we! I have wanted to hike in this great natural and exceptional site that is the Cirque de Navacelles for a long time! We start our hike at the Belvédère de la Baume Auriol by the postman's path. The panorama is spectacular! An ideal spot to discover the canyon from above. It is impressive and a real geological curiosity nestled in the gorges of the Vis. After contemplation and beautiful shots, we descend to the village of Navacelles. From there, we take the Roman bridge and we follow the path overlooking the river between genets and flowers of all colors. The panoramas emerge and the view is extraordinary! About halfway through the route, we arrive at the Moulin de la Foux where we will have a picnic break by the water. We resume walking by the path that follows the course of the Vis river where we do not fail to soak our feet from time to time! We will end the hike at the Vis waterfall. After an hour of relaxation by the water, we will go back to the belvedere to pick up the car!
Hike of about 3 hours. A few rocks to pass. First part along the river and 2nd part after the mill on the heights. Very nice walk. Be careful if you park outside the Navacelles circus to take into account the last schedule of the free shuttles. Otherwise difficult access road for motorhomes.
A spectacular hike from the viewpoint on the rim of the gorge down into the heart of the Cirque de Navacelles. The trail winds its way down to the La Foux Mill, where the Vis River cascades down its course in several cascades – a wonderful place to rest. Afterwards, the hike climbs back up the other side of the river, with ever-changing views of the impressive karst landscape. Challenging, but absolutely rewarding – a true highlight in the south of France.
A must-see walk in the region for good reason. I took the trace backwards, it took me a while to realize it and it was too late to correct ^^
Easy and beautiful hike. Don't forget to pay the 4 euro parking fee until October 31st.
This tour is very impressive. The descent and ascent in the heat and sunshine is exhausting. Along the river is shady and flat. The place tiny. All in all highly recommended.
