Hiking
The Riisin rääpäsy circular trail takes you to the top of Riisitunturi fell. The national park of the same name is famous for its winter landscape. In the cold season, magical snow sculptures emerge from the snow-covered treetops. But the beautiful landscape also has its charms in summer.
You start from the parking lot into the extensive spruce forests. One of the spruces stands out from the forest: The tree only grows in width and no longer upwards. An information board nearby explains why. Then the landscape opens up. The trees are now widely spaced. You slowly hike up a well-trodden path to the Riisitunturi summit. From up here you have a great view over the landscape and the lake.
Return past the Ikkunalampi pond to the wooden Riisitunturi shelter. Hikers can stay overnight in the hut. There is wood and a fire pit so you could stop here for a BBQ break on your day trip. From the hut it is about two kilometers back to the parking lot.
