Hiking

The Stowe Pinnacle Trail offers a classic Vermont hiking experience, winding through a lush mixed hardwood forest before emerging onto a bald, rocky summit. You'll navigate packed earth, gravel, and some significant rock sections, with the terrain becoming steeper as you ascend. The reward for your effort is a stunning 360-degree panorama from Stowe Pinnacle Summit, showcasing iconic Green Mountain peaks like Mount Mansfield and Camel's Hump.

This popular route is an easy 3.3-mile (5.3 km) hike with 806 feet (246 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking about 1 hour and 42 minutes. Due to its popularity, especially on weekends, consider starting your hike early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid crowds and secure parking. The trail is dog-friendly, provided your furry friend stays on a leash.

What makes this trail truly stand out is the incredible payoff for its relatively short length, offering one of Vermont's finest vistas. It's a local favorite for good reason, providing exceptional views of the Worcester Range and Lamoille Valley. The trail is particularly vibrant during the fall foliage season, transforming into a spectacular display of colors.

This trail takes you up an old fire road through the Pinnacle Meadow, an open clearing with fantastic views of Mt. Mansfield and the Stowe Mountain Ski Area.
