Yesterday, I flew from Frankfurt to Madrid and then drove about 200 km northwest through a nearly uninhabited landscape to Valladolid in a rental car. The goal of the trip is to visit historic towns in Old Castile, located on a plateau 700 to 1000 meters high. Valladolid is the approximate center of the region.
