Today, loop 24 followed in our series of _Altmühl Panorama Trails_. And @Waldkind and I tried something really crazy, namely the attempt: can we both manage, with mutual support, not to run a hiking trail, but to HIKE it⁉️ And what can I tell you, you can see it: The attempt worked, and it was fun‼️ Starting in the center of Altmannstein, the path (well signposted) leads over varied forest, meadow and juniper heath routes to Riedenburg. Riedenburg, a magnet for many different types of exercise, has its very own charm with the banks of the Altmühl, the view of the castle and ruins, the always busy market square and a diverse and always well-attended restaurant. The loop leads back a few kilometers on a shuttle route, then branches off in the forest at a unique, impressive wooden church built at the beginning of the last century by an 80-year-old. The door is not locked and a richly and specially furnished church room opens up. A GEM WORTH SEEING 👌🏼 http://www.das-altmuehltal.de/riedenburg/klausenkapelle/klausenkapelle.htm
Very nice hike, slightly adapted to the weather, with many highlights. Unfortunately there was a lot of snow, which made some passages very difficult to walk on. In summer definitely get an ice cream from Funck!
The loop path Schambachtal 24 was our destination for today. Our PP Altmannstein at the outdoor pool. A long but very nice tour awaits us. S24 is rightly one of the most beautiful loop trails in the Altmühltal. Note: At km 5.3, follow the S 24 straight ahead. (we wanted to shorten it ... not a good idea!)
The original path is pretty unimaginative and mostly uncomfortable to walk on (a lot of asphalt, gravel, overgrown paths with ticks guaranteed, boring, monotonous). We changed the route a bit. But even with these changes, the path has not been the burner. We cannot recommend it and will certainly not run it a second time.
A beautiful tour with alternating trail runs in the Riedenburg and Schambach Valley areas. In addition to the stunning scenery, we also encountered the Methuselah linden tree and the 1,000-year-old oak along the route. 😍 Only the noise of the many motorcycles in the Schambach Valley somewhat spoils the nature experience in the beautiful spring weather. Nevertheless: highly recommended. 👍
