Varied circular route with information boards about the settlement of the Thalach Valley. P: Staufer Weg, Thalmässing Attractions: - Burial graves - fortification ditches Stop: - variously in Thalmässing - Weglehner, Landersdorf Left: - https://www.naturpark-altmuehltal.org/routen/archaeologer_wanderweg_v-1608/ - https://mit-mama-nach.de/wandern-auf-dem-premiumwanderweg-vorgeschichtsweg-thalmaessing-landkreis-roth/
It's been 30 years since I was in Thalmässing. Now that I'm already in the area, I thought I'd go for a hike. I chose the archaeological hiking trail. One of three that there are there. In this case, I followed the golden V, which is supposed to show the prehistory on the information boards. It's a beautiful path through the forest up to the hill. And then further along across meadows and fields and back through the forest. I also got the direction wrong once. But the path is very well signposted. The path itself starts at the archaeological museum. Open Friday to Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and also offers tours of the paths. The other two archaeological routes are Celtic and Middle Ages. When I'm here again, I'll probably hike these too.
Hey guys, yes, as you can see, we were on the prehistory trail in Thalmässing today, since it was the first real hike in 2 years, the whole concept unfortunately got a bit out of joint. On the one hand, we walked the path completely the wrong way around, i.e. walked down the station and, in addition, my pictures were taken with a gimble... wasn't that great 🤔. Our conclusion of the way: Personally, we would have liked a bit more at the stations (ok, the age is very long ago and you can't show everything). However, the nature is very worth seeing and you still start to imagine how the people probably lived here. The path is very well signposted (V) and you can or should link it to the Keltenweg (K) (approx. 5 km more) in order to perhaps draw a thing or two from history here. Our start/end point was Marktplatz 2 in 91177 Thalmässing.
I discovered this hike here on Komoot. I only modified them slightly. Thank you to the person who planned this amazing hike.
The tour is recommended when the weather is nice to enjoy the panoramic view.
Our hike begins on the market square of Thalmässing. Those arriving by car will find a free parking space at the end of Staufer Weg. First the way leads us over the Ringstrasse. and up the Merleinsgasse, past the Johann-Denzler-Linde and two rock cellars, to Waizenhofener Espan. Here we find the first highlight, a barrow. Then we continue to follow the hiking trail marked "V". When we arrive in Landersdorf, we take a little time to visit the houses in the historical village. It continues, past an early Celtic city of the dead, to the Reuther Platte with a great view. From there the path leads us back to Thalmässing. Now a visit to the Fundreich Museum for a worthy end to the hike.
Did this tour on Father's Day in the most beautiful May weather without any fatherly fuss. Great tour with wonderful panoramic views, excellently signposted. Lots of information boards on Celtic history round off this lovely day of hiking.
Nice easy hike to get started. For the first time with a dog, two dogs in the group. worked fine
