I can only recommend going on the red one. Once at the top there is a fantastic 360 degree view. The nature on the way is beautiful, two huts help you to keep going. The path itself is 95% gravel and the meters in altitude that have to be mastered were exhausting for me. But, we have now walked it for the second time - well, the view on the Roen is gigantic!
A hike to the highest peak of the Mendola ridge! The tour is certainly slightly more strenuous than, for example, to Penegal (you go in exactly the opposite direction from the Mendel Pass), but you will be rewarded with even more fantastic views. In fact, there is a 360° all-round view of the entire world of the Dolomites... In the east, the whole chain with Sciliar, Catinaccio and Latemar, plus views of Bozen, Tramin and Caldaro as if from an airplane... On the left side, the greets Penegal. To the west the Brenta and Adamello group, Monte Peller is at your feet... Views of the Val di Non and Val di Sole... The view is second to none. The local mountain of Termeno really rewards you with breathtaking scenery and unimagined views. Since there are alpine pastures and mountain huts along the entire hiking route, this tour combines hiking, the landscape and the gastronomy of the area in the most pleasant way. Conclusion: top recommendation!!! Choose a day with good visibility!
The tour was super exhausting, 😓 but the view from the summit was worth it 👍👍👍🥾☀️
Climbed from Passo Mendola precisely from the parking lot of the chairlift and climbed to the top of Mount Roen and coma Nera not far away.
Today, endurance was required. First, I took the funicular up to the Mendel Pass, which was a relaxed affair. From there, I took the long, unspectacular path through the beautiful autumn forest to the Halbweg Hut and then on to the Romeno Hut. Then another hour's climb, some steeply at times, to Monte Roen with a magnificent 360° panorama. The effort was worth it; the view is simply magnificent. The descent was just like the ascent. Unfortunately, I forgot to stop the recording before the Mendel funicular ride down and had to edit the tour. Komoot unfortunately mixed up all the photos.
Everything was going great until a violent storm front ⛈️ came up 200m before the finish. Luckily we have a place in the next cable car. Unfortunately, two trees fell onto the rails. Back up again (very steep, heavy hail, branches flying around 🌪️) and 2 hours bus ride to the valley station instead of 12 minutes. 😰
Main tour of the week in good weather on the Roen with a detour to the Überetscher hut, which offers the best view of the Dolomites. This evening in the Fischer cellar, 1/2 liter of red wine, then it was perfect
Another tour that I'm putting on my list of pleasure tours. Not very demanding, but beeeaaaautiful😊. You'll definitely be climbing quite a few meters here too - around 750/800 up/down. The recording shows more: up the Mendelbahn and down a chairlift on the way back (go easy on your knees). It's a steady, moderate climb from the Mendel Pass. It starts off very wooded, but still bright and open. I liked that. It's only from Malga Romeno that it goes steeply uphill: to the Roen. This climb takes around 1 hour. It gets rockier and a bit narrower. The forest cover becomes sparse. Once you're at the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view: the Texel group, the Ortler massif, the Trentino mountains. It's all there. I've ignored the fact that brown bears trace their routes here🙈. I actually wanted to take a different marked route back to Malga Romeno, but although it was signposted, it was completely overgrown and the necessary safety measures were missing. So: back.
