Trail Reviews

Harald und Arianne Happekotte
June 24, 2024, Col de Peyresourde / Col de Val Louron-Azet

On this tour you drive up the Col de Peyresourde from both sides. Once to get to the Col de Val Louron-Azet and once back to Luchon. The view on this tour is simply fantastic. You see different areas in succession. There are no food options on the Col de Val Louron-Azet, but when you drive back into the valley there is plenty of choice in the village. You can also get food during the stopover on the Col de Peyresourde. Thanks to this year's Tour de Franc, the roads are in very good condition. Some of them are also being re-tarred. What isn't done for the tour. So if you want to get the tour feeling, you should drive this route at least once.

Lots of elevation gain, warm in the sun. There was a lot of direct sun. The route consists of a round trip. That's why we did Peyresourde twice. Great view from Louron-Azet. On July 14, 2024, the TdF will climb both mountains as part of the 15th stage. Roadworks are underway.

The outward journey from Saint-Lary-Soulan via Arreau, the Peyresoude pass and Bagnères-de-Luchon was not taken into account, GPS not active on the Garmin. The hardest part, on the way back, is the Azet Val Louron pass with the sun and the heat.
