UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex was a hard coal mine in Essen that operated from 1851 to 1986. It was named after the German Customs Union, founded in 1834. After the commissioning of central shaft 12, the mine temporarily boasted the highest production rates among German hard coal mines in the mid-20th century. A great route for the family. Even suitable for small children. There were grilled sausages and soda for the daughter at the kiosk.
I had this route from the Bikeline Ruhr area. In the beginning I had trouble finding the right starting point. My navigation system could not show me clearly where to go. But otherwise it was really a very nice route, almost no inclines (only 2 x very short inclines), which was very pleasant for me. The routes were mostly for cyclists, but also partially for pedestrians, very very little for cars. Because of a detour - at about 17 km - we had to drive briefly on a busy road and almost only drive on asphalt until the end of the first detour. No sooner had the diversion ended than the second diversion came at 21.5. km. Here you were confused as to where to continue (I saw that with other cyclists too) until I was told to simply take junction 90, and then it worked. Here I had the feeling that you were driving through the industrial area, which is what it is, but I can really feel it here. I had a lot of fun: great weather, not too crowded. On the way I saw two booths, at km 11.3 and km 25.7. According to Komoot, the route should be of medium difficulty, but I don't think so. Is lighter than expected. More than 22 km are very good cycle paths to ride on, otherwise branch lines, paths, roads and off-grid sections. There is also a lot of greenery here. It is worth it ..
After 8 weeks of flu and a cold, I was back on my bike.
A truly beautiful route. The bike paths are almost always very wide, making it easy to overtake in both directions. The paths are mostly shaded by trees, and you ride only rarely in the blazing sun. Despite it being May Day, you're often alone on the route; there were only a few other people on a few short stretches. The only shame is that there aren't any nice places to stop for refreshments along the way. We'll definitely do the tour again, despite the 50-minute commute.
Hey guys 💁♂️ today with the nice weather to the riding stable and I wanted to see if Marc is open again. Hey great 🐗 burger 🍔 eaten and delicious 🍺 drunk. It's worth it believe me Good luck for your commander
An interesting tour with a lot to discover The tour leads over very good bike paths, completely without car traffic. I would like to see cycle paths like this anywhere 👍 Halfway there, at the Zeche Zollverein, you can get tarte flambée or pizza. If you arrive by car + bicycles, the best place to park is here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/AegCYDXsJfRWzkiB9
Nice tour with Eva along the Erzbahntrasse and the canal. Started in Gelsenkirchen to the Zollverein mine. Continue to Schurenbachhalde. Then along the canal past Nordsternpark and the Zoom adventure world. At Holger's Erzbahnbude to the Rheinelbe dump. That's where the round closes :)
