Trail Reviews

EifelFranke
May 9, 2023, Seven Summits im Nürnberger Land: Dom (613m)

And on we go on a summit tour, this time Pommelsbrunn is the starting point. Magnificent narrow paths and trails lead steeply downhill and uphill, mostly through wooded areas. The Mühlkoppe with its fantastic view was the first highlight on the tour, which I unintentionally completed the other way around. Via the beautifully situated chapel ruins near Arzlohe we continue to the cathedral. Even if there is no far-reaching view, the great rock formations around and on the hilltop are still an impressive sight. So it goes past other imposing rocks back to Pommelsbrunn. A great tour in the best weather!

This tour is described as follows: "Through sparse beech forests, the route leads to the fairytale rock labyrinth around the cathedral, the Arzlohe chapel ruins and the panoramic view from the Mühlkoppe." It is one of our favorites, as it runs along what feels like 100% beautiful forest paths. The very good stop at the "Zur Waldesruh" restaurant in Arzlohe was refreshing. Our GPS data (Garmin GPSmap 66st): Distance 12.2 km, 540 m elevation

Very, very nice hike / very close to nature through lots of forest - also suitable in summer / off the beaten track and little frequented / no infrastructure - take all drinks and food with you - but very quiet

The first of the seven "summits" in the Nuremberg region explored: A very beautiful tour on mostly dream paths/trails through beautiful forests, but with some steep climbs. Unfortunately, it was not possible to stop off in Arzlohe because the inn is only open at weekends.
