Trail Reviews

Eddie
June 8, 2025, Horcadas to Embalse del Porma and Riaño, Esp.

Good long cycle with magnificent views of mountains and lakes. Eighteen climbs negotiated, sort of.🤔🥵🤗 Very few vehicles on the roads but saw LOTS of small groups of motorcyclists....... enjoying the views and open roads just like me.🤗 Road surfaces varied, good around the Embalse del Porma, however, rather rough around much of Lake Riaño. A good day out in the Picos de Europa and happy that it wasn't too hot and sunny. 🤗🚲

Important: in both the Riaño and Porma reservoir areas, you pass through several short tunnels WITHOUT lighting, so it is ESSENTIAL to have some type of front and rear light. Also keep in mind that they are very exposed roads with almost no shade, so on hot days it is better to look for an alternative. And finally, although most of the route is along main roads, the condition of the road surface in most of them is quite regular.

Quite a nice lap, but not outstanding in terms of landscape and road conditions. Our biggest opponent today was the wind and the grit on the narrow shoulder. Thomas Platten was treated without any problems, though.
