The trailhead is conveniently located near the Hermitage of the Trinity. You'll find parking available there, making it easy to begin your hike.
This loop is rated as moderate. While accessible to most hikers with a reasonable level of fitness, some sections are rocky and uneven, requiring good walking shoes. It might be challenging for very young children or those unaccustomed to hiking on varied terrain.
You'll encounter varied terrain, including rocky coastlines, dense vegetation, and fragrant maquis scrubland. Expect sections with magnificent orange-colored rocks and undulating paths, especially along the seaside. Good footwear is essential due to the rocky and sometimes less clear parts of the trail.
The trail offers stunning coastal views of the Bonifacio cliffs and the Strait of Bonifacio. You'll pass by the historical Hermitage of the Trinity and the 19th-century Capo di Feno Lighthouse. Keep an eye out for unique rock formations like 'taffoni' sculpted by erosion.
Yes, the route shares sections with other trails in the area. You'll find it intersects with parts of 'Capo di Feno par l'Ermitage de la Trinité', 'Capo di Feno par Bonifacio', 'Capo di Feno par Bocca d'Arbia', 'Capo di Feno par La Tonnara', and 'Balade vers la Trinité'.
While dogs are generally welcome on trails in Corsica, it's always best to keep them on a leash, especially given the varied terrain and potential for wildlife. Be mindful of rocky sections and ensure your dog is comfortable with longer hikes.
The trail is located within the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse. Generally, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required for hiking this route. However, always respect local regulations and signage within the park.
The best time to hike is typically during the spring (April-June) or autumn (September-October) when temperatures are milder. Summer can be very hot, making the moderate difficulty more challenging, though it offers opportunities for refreshing swims in the coves.
Absolutely! The loop passes by several wild coves and beaches, such as Cala Genovese. These offer fantastic opportunities for a refreshing swim, especially during warmer months. Remember to bring appropriate gear if you plan to take a dip.
Good walking shoes with ankle support are highly recommended due to the rocky and uneven terrain. Bring plenty of water, especially on hot days, as sources are limited. Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is essential, and a light jacket might be useful for coastal breezes.
You'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views throughout the hike. Expect magnificent vistas of the Bonifacio cliffs, the sparkling turquoise Mediterranean Sea, and the Strait of Bonifacio. On clear days, you might even catch a glimpse of Sardinia's northern coast.
We did this very beautiful hike. A family, with an 11-year-old child, all good runners. I would recommend doing the route the way we did. From the parking lot, downhill with a view of Bonifacio, and then the less difficult section at the end. It was 33 degrees and very strenuous! The trail is magnificent, but more like a goat track; easy to see but challenging. There's little shade, lots of stones and rocks, but it's great. Sturdy shoes, provisions, and PLENTY OF WATER!! There are also a few great swimming spots; I wouldn't want to wear them the second time either. It's almost impossible to do in under 2 hours; take your time, stop, and look around.
Rough under a blazing sun and yet at the end of the day. But superb coves. Is it worth it
