Although this is the shortest ride in the Collection, it's packed full of stunning scenery, and offers an excellent introduction to the New Forest on largely flat terrain.
You'll pass two pubs in the latter half of the Tour. There are also a couple of small supermarkets at the start of the ride in Brockenhurst.
Begin by taking Rhinefield Ornamental Drive, arguably one of the best sections of road cycling in the New Forest. This 2-mile (3.2 km) narrow avenue is lined with Douglas firs, redwoods, giant sequoias, and vibrant rhododendrons. It's a magical experience as you roll past these ancient trees, some of which were planted in the mid-1800s and are now over 150 feet (46 m) tall.
Next you'll endure a very short section of cycling on the busy A35 (about a minute in total), before taking the forested Lyndhurst Road towards Burley.
Just outside Burley is the White Buck Inn, a large pub in a grand country house with an inviting garden. Refuel here before joining Holmsley Passage, an undulating winding road which offers an array of vivid colours from the bracken, gorse, and heather that cover the landscape.
An alternative stopping point is the Rising Sun pub, just outside the village of Tiptoe. From here you'll descend towards the pretty Wootton Bridge then gently climb up to Burley Road.
End the journey with a fabulous descent back into Brockenhurst across open heathland, passing Wilverley Plain and Hincheslea Moor. This road is particularly stunning when the sun is setting.
