This route was planned by komoot.
All very beautiful, many dirt roads on the lake, some practically obligatory stretches of asphalt and a nice piece of Francigena.
Another circumnavigation of Lake Bolsena already done of which I refer you to the description. This one differs only for a small stretch in the woods after Bolsena where you have to cross a stream and take a nice single track uphill in the woods and then do a piece of the Cassia Antica partly still paved with stone.
Beautiful loop around the lake on the Via Francigena and small roads, ideal for gravel or MTB.
A great tour around Lake Bolsena with @Günter60 as a local guide. Günter has known Lake Bolsena for 40 years and is knowledgeable. We met a few pilgrims along the way. No surprise, given that the tour largely follows the St. Francis Way (from Canterbury to Rome) and leads along beautiful paths, with blooming meadows on both sides, and sometimes even directly along the lake. The wind was a bit annoying at times, but otherwise we were lucky with the weather: no rain and a mild 20 degrees.
From Bolsena, you start directly along the lake – and it usually stays that way. Time and again, you'll be treated to fantastic views of the water, and you'll often cycle right up close to it. The route leads through small towns, vineyards, and typical Italian countryside. A real highlight is the detour beyond Marta up to Montefiascone: The climb is definitely worth it – a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Bolsena awaits at the top. Refreshments along the way are no problem: There are plenty of cafés, bars, and restaurants in the towns around the lake – gels and bars can safely be left at home. And to finish off, an ice cream by the lake in Bolsena is simply a must!
Tour of Lake Bolsena... Suitable for everyone.. Marta and Positano are worth a visit
Fatigue rewarded by the beautiful landscape and the satisfaction of having completed my first bike ride.
The larger part of the beautiful lake can be circled on the shore at water level. In two places I wished for a motor for the first time.🤣 Somewhere along the lap I ran into the front tire a little, but the air just barely held to the shelter. So the next thing to do is patch the hose.
