Extremely unusual for me to do an afternoon walk! I'm usually up and out with the larks. However I managed to spy a break in the rainclouds and had a lovely walk around Rudyard. So glad I was carrying bird seed today - the little ones loved it 😍 x
Another lovely walk around Rudyard, no debrief today, I chose to donate my debrief money to the C&RT who were busy gratefully requesting for much needed donations towards a large project coming up at Rudyard. Rudyard Lake provides some of the most dramatic scenery to be found in the Staffordshire Moorlands and over 500,000 visitors come to her shores each year. The Lake covers some 168 acres and is over 2.5 miles long. It is owned by the Canal & River Trust and the commercial leisure activities are managed by Rudyard Lake Ltd. The Lake was built as a reservoir in 1797; even to this day the Lake still supplies the canal system for which it was designed and remains an active working reservoir. The Lake is the place where Rudyard Kipling’s parents first met, where Captain Webb, the first channel swimmer, came to demonstrate his skills and where The African Blondin (Carlos Trower) appeared several times amazing the crowds 30m above the Lake on a tightrope. https://www.rudyardlake.com/
It's a nice casual loop. However, the first leg of the journey from South to North gets a bit samey and boring after 20 minutes. The apex and the route back is a little more interesting.
A lovely little walk around Rudyard with the girls 😊. I started the walk from the station rather than from the North Car Park like I usually do and walked in an anti-clockwise direction for a change...living it up! 🤣
I've never seen the lake frozen before! The paths were like skating rinks! We had a lovely debrief at the Rudyard Lake Cafe though! 👌🏻
