As promised, an exquisite nature tour. I discovered this route in a hiking brochure in our holiday home and found it worth hiking. It ultimately turned out to be a truly varied, peaceful route with wide paths, narrow trails, great moments to linger, magnificent views, and quite a bit of elevation gain. So, if you're ever in the area, go for it!
Because I couldn't decide between two options for today, it became the third. It shouldn't be too strenuous because I've been lying flat for three days and I'm not quite fit yet. I've had the water dragon on my list for a long time and so today we went comfortably to Höxter-Godelheim with the €9 ticket. The train station is extremely convenient for the tour! Just 400 m to the start. All in all, the tour is a hot contender for my favorite hikes in 2022. I recommend walking them clockwise. With the Weser, the ponds and lakes, the Rodeneck Tower, the Brunsberghütte etc. there is so much to see. Not to mention the great vantage points. In between there are fantastic forests, so that there is always shade. The paths are slightly adventurous in places, but on the whole very easy to walk. The signage is a dream, I was only briefly lost in two places. The climb is quite steep, but at least not long. I could rave forever. There is also a hiker's car park (Am Maibach) if you arrive by car. But he is not big. Unfortunately, I also saw cars further down the track. People, nature reserve! Does something ring?
First of all, my conclusion on this tour: For me this was the first visit to the Weserbergland, kind of "new territory", but what a great start !!! 👌😃👍 I am absolutely thrilled by the fantastic views and insights into the Weser and the surroundings of Höxter, which whets the appetite for further exploration! 😋 I can only recommend the underlying tour template, in addition to a great nature reserve, varied paths and wonderful views are offered! +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ https://www.teutoburgerwald.de/wandern-radfahren/in-der-natur/tour/erlesene-natur-dem-wasserdrachen-auf-der-spur "Diverse forests, mirror-smooth lakes, wide views and rare plants - all of this awaits you on the steep slopes of Ziegenberg and Brunsberg near Höxter west of the Weser. The crevices and scree fields of the steep slopes of Ziegenberg and Brunsberg offer numerous animal species an ideal hiding place. The crested newt also spends the winter here safely. Its spawning waters are right at the foot of Ziegenberg and Brunsberg in Taubenborn and Grundlose. Due to its size and impressive comb, it is reminiscent of a miniature version of a kite. Explore the cliffs and rock formations of the Weser slopes near Höxter, let yourself be impressed by the fascinating views of the Weser Valley and the neighboring Solling. Enjoy great resting places at the Rabenklippen and the Brunsberg Hut. Discover the ruins of the once mighty Brunsburg, whose buried vaults and crumbling walls also belong to the realm of the water dragon. The extensive mixed beech forests on the Weser slopes are also the habitat of numerous rare plant species. In early spring liverpools, cowslips or daphne inspire with their bright blue, yellow or purple flowers and in autumn the beech forest experiences a real explosion of colors: Indian summer on the Weser. " Starting point and approach Start / finish: hiking car park Am MAibach, 37671 Höxter-Godelheim Alternatively: Parking lot at the OWL University of Applied Sciences, An der Wilhelmshöhe 44, 37671 Höxter Train stop: HX-Godelheim (RB84) Bus stop: HX-Godelheim, Am Friedhof (R22) or An der Wilhelmshöhe Höxter (HX 1) https://www.kulturland.org/Aktivitaeten/Wandern/Lieblingstouren-Wandern/Hoexter-Dem-Wasserdrachen-auf-der-Spur/
Good thing I always have shoes in the trunk! 😅 So I was able to start a very nice, perfectly signposted circular hike in Höxter-Godelheim after work.😊 "On the trail of the water dragon"🦎🐉😃 Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky today and didn't find any crested newts, and there was far too little time for that before it got dark! I really had to hurry!😅 The path actually leads almost exclusively along small hiking trails via the Brunsberghütte to the Rodeneck Tower and then through the Taubenborn. Here I always get wistful when I think that the bypass will soon be carried out here... Another piece of nature less. 😔 Of course I can understand the wish of the Godelheimers... This hike will definitely be repeated, but it has to stay light a little longer in the evening!😉😅👌 Oh yes, I was also allowed to listen to a wonderful evening concert of the birds! 😍😍 Head is free again!😉
For me it is still one of the most beautiful autumn hikes in the region: narrow paths, a few meters in altitude, great viewpoints and resting places and, above all, wonderfully colorful forests, some of which are reflected in the lakes. Indian Summer on the Weser slopes!
Didn't see any water dragons, smooth snakes, or anything like that! But we did enjoy a magnificent view!
CHANGE OF FABRIC. Rain jacket on. Rain jacket off. Put on rain poncho. Take off rain poncho. "Brrr...I'm cold." "Phew, it's really warm." But why don't I have a hat or gloves with me?🤔😂 It's a pretty "April" hike today, but still beautiful 😊. Because the trail is a good mix of ups and downs and flat terrain, forest, water, and views.
A beautiful hike with a wonderful view in perfect hiking weather.
