Hiking
There are three idyllic lakes along this nine-kilometer circular hike. Starting from the Stromberg-Heuchelberg nature park center, follow the path on the banks of the Ehmetsklinge reservoir. In summer the clear water is a welcome cooling.
The hike leads through an enchanting landscape of vineyards, forests and fields. Another highlight is the Katzenbachsee. Surrounded by lawns and large trees, it is a true natural paradise. During the summer months you can fortify yourself with a snack at the small kiosk and enjoy the beautiful view.
Without any major inclines, the route continues to the third body of water on this tour: The Michelbacher See lies in a valley floor below the Spitzenberg. Since the lake is located in the nature reserve, swimming is not allowed here. But the sight alone is wonderful.
Via the village of Zaberfeld you get back to the starting point at the Ehmetsklinge reservoir. There you can stop off at the Wirtshaus am See or visit the interesting nature park center.

Today in nice weather we went to the Heilbronner Land. The Ehmetsklinge reservoir is located in Zaberfeld. The large lake nestles picturesquely in the slope of the Stromberg and is also a natural paradise. Ehmetsklinge is a beautiful excursion destination and has other leisure activities on the lake. We continued through woods and fields to Katzenbachsee--the bathing lake in the middle of the nature park is small but fine. The Katzenbachsee between Pfaffenhofen and Zaberfeld is surrounded by reeds and forest. After 7km we reached the nature reserve ofspitzenberg-Michelbach. It is located between Pfaffenhofen and Zaberfeld. We can definitely recommend this hike.
The Three Lakes Trail in Zaberfeld was quiet and wintry today. Despite mild temperatures, the sky remained gray and sunless, lending the hike a special, subdued atmosphere. At the Ehmetsklinge and Katzenbach reservoirs, the water surfaces were still partially frozen – clear signs that winter isn't quite ready to let go. The Michelbach retention basin, on the other hand, was completely covered by a sheet of ice. A particular highlight was spotting a yellowhammer, which briefly appeared and even allowed itself to be photographed. Overall, it was a beautiful, peaceful hike through a landscape in transition between winter and spring.
Beautiful hike in the “Land of 1000 Hills”. Easily walkable paths without significant difficulties. Watch out. Between May 1st and September 30th, the parking spaces at the Ehmetsklinge are subject to a charge.
A nice, leisurely hike with two swimming lakes, little shade overall.
I actually wanted to go for a ride on the bike today but I didn't feel like going alone Then I decided to go for a ride with the 🐶, it's always nice with the little 😊
Water, meadows, forest and wine. The largest tour in Wander3Klang Zaberfeld connects 2 bathing lakes and a lake in the nature reserve. After the first section past the inn, lawn and protected southern bank of the Ehmetsklinge, the path leads along the former holiday home settlement and the fish ponds across the road to Häfnerhaslach to the Steinhauer Hütte. Vines and forest accompany the tour down to the beautifully situated Katzenbachsee, where a kiosk and barbecue area await. The Michelbach leads to the third lake on the tour, the natural Michelbachsee. After walking around the Spitzenberg, which can be seen from afar, you reach the Zaber, the course of which eventually leads back to the starting point. Source: https://www.heilbronnerland.de/tour/za1-drei-seenweg-wanderdreiklang-zaberfeld I have extended the route to include detours to the Lapidarium (-> boundary stone collection) and the former Zaberfeld Castle as well as the Stromberghof (great place to stop for a break). The parking lot at the starting point of the hike is subject to a fee. It would be better if the hike started at the Sängerheim in Weiler an der Zaber. There are free parking spaces there. The path is largely asphalted. But the views of the lakes and the hilly landscape make up for it.
Easter Sunday couldn't have been more beautiful for us. We did everything right! We got to the parking lot early and started early, too. This gave us plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of the lakes and the landscape. We were back in the car in time for the first rain shower that afternoon!
The weather promised to stay dry today. The Zaberfeld lakes are beautiful in every season. I was out for 2.5 hours. There were lots of birds at the lakes and some deer in the meadows. It's a good thing my dog finds them scary :)
