This 52 kilometer round starts excitingly with the “Auf der Braem” museum courtyard and the bee museum. What was life like in the country around 1920? The layout of the museum courtyard gives an impression. This also includes a beautiful small farm garden with a herb garden and a bakery. The museum festival is celebrated once a year and then the farm comes back to life. Guided tours are available by appointment.
Now we continue to Velen. The Velen Historical Zoo is well worth seeing. A beautiful park and a fabulous cultural and historical testimony. Laid out according to plans by the architect Johann Conrad Schlaun, the castle park and the forest area were developed into an extensive park, the Velen Historical Zoo. The architect's baroque style can still be recognized today, namely in the very special network of paths and the six-armed hunting star, which is also known from the Berlin Tiergarten. A landscape that is a beautiful place to slow down at any time. The next beautiful place on the tour is the Artesian Well, on the border with the municipality of Heiden. Refreshing for the legs!
If you would like to include a detour on your tour, there are several options: The observation tower on Melchenberg in Groß Reken is next close to your tour. Then the forest adventure trail and the low ropes course. Both in Groß Reken. Further in Maria Veen, the bird park is worth a detour.
You then drive for a while through nature, along the Heubach lowlands, Lavesumer Bruch and Borkenberge. Then the Kuhlenvenn is on your way just before Gescher. The nature reserve is a particularly beautiful place for observing water birds! There is an observation platform.
Maybe you can take a short break here and enjoy the beautiful nature before you return to your starting point in Gescher.
