Trail Reviews

Giuliana Steccanella - Lumachina Lenta
September 27, 2025, Nel Campidano

First day in Campidano. In the afternoon I decide to set off on a short tour, starting from Cabras towards Nurachi where I find a beautiful mural 😍 you'll find true open-air works of art there. I continue towards Riola Sardo and then towards Putzu Idu, but at the first intersection I turn left towards San Salvatore in Sinis. This is a small village considered the Sardinian Wild West, where several western films have been filmed. It consists of a single village inhabited only for a few days in September, during the Corsa degli Scalzi, an old Sardinian tradition. The Feast of San Salvatore evokes the events of 1619, when, to protect the statue of San Salvatore during the Moorish attacks that raged along that stretch of the Sinis coast, the locals organized a race that is commemorated every first weekend in September. It's an unmissable annual event for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the history, tradition, and culture of Sardinia, a fascinating blend of religious devotion, cultural pride, and participation, culminating in the famous Corsa degli Scalzi.
