4th day of hiking on La Palma. Today we went on a summit tour! Roque de Los Muchachos, Marangano, Roque Palmero and Pico de la Cruz. We hiked these 4 stately hills and a few kilometers in between today. Since we started right after breakfast, we were able to claim one of the scarce spaces on La Palma's highest parking lot. The hike above the clouds with a gigantic view of the Caldera de Taburiente and over to the Teide on Tenerife was simply breathtaking.
A wonderful day! The higher we drove, the warmer it got – a rare phenomenon. Pure sunshine, hardly any wind, and temperatures up to 16 degrees Celsius at the island's highest point. That alone would have been enough, but then there was this fantastic little hike on the northwest side of the caldera. It couldn't be more beautiful; the long drive was more than worth it! If you get there early enough, you can find a parking spot, and most tourists only see the main attraction and are soon back in their cars, so you're practically alone – at least on this side of the caldera! Highly recommended!!!
