This route was planned by komoot.
The lava slopes and craters of the "old" volcanoes and the distant view over the clouds streaming towards the Cumbre Vieja from the east, as far as Tenerife (Teide), are impressive. The new volcano Tajogaite cannot be seen, hidden by mountains.
Easy hike with beautiful views if the clouds allow it
We only saw two vulcanos. It was impressive the craters and also scary to see so much dark from the lava. First you go through a pine forest, than a landscape with bushes ( a miniature forest in my opinion), and then come the first two craters. The journey continues for who wants to see more. We took at a time a path marked on Komoot but actually the path disappeared - it is covered by bushes. So i recommend to stay on the marked trails.
A section of the GR 131 was planned for today. We started from a huge barbecue and picnic area, El Pillar. Always uphill to the Cumbre vieja, the old ridge. Once at the top we went through a stunning landscape between several volcanic craters. And the view of the neighboring island of Tenerife with the Teide, which is over 3700m high, was worth the effort.
Normally you just go the tour to Los Canarios. I'd rather do the tour twice ☺️
... today we strolled a bit on the "Ruta de Los Volcanes" 🌋 back and forth....😁☀️🥾.... A great hiking trail (easy to walk and 80% shaded) fantastic weather and views (...El Hierro and Tenerife)🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩... once again amazing! We really liked it and had a lot of fun... 🥳
Another great tour through the volcanic world of La Palma. I was on my own to Pico Nambroque from Pilar, but I didn't go with the "tourist crowds" but instead took an unmarked but still easily recognizable path over two smaller volcanoes, which led to more elevation but was really worth it because of the great views. The way back was very cloudy - you have to set off as early as possible and don't forget warm clothes!
The path to Montana los Charcos was not accessible due to impassable terrain. The path to Pico Birigoyo was also barely accessible. A little care to climb this mountain would be advertising for the island. The view is just as good as the Nieve and the Muchacho.
