August 19, 2022, 🇩🇪 SN 🇨🇿 ERZ, Wanderung Oberwiesenthal- Klinovec (Keilberg) - kleiner/großer Fichtelberg- Oberwiesenthal

🤔 A wonderful tour in the upper section of the Ore Mountains. The change from a pure winter sports center to a year-round sports and recreation area can be felt. The well-developed network of hiking trails has something for every level of fitness. It doesn't matter whether you go for a day or longer hikes, there is something for everyone. On many sections, the hiker encounters untouched nature. Oberwiesenthal (since May 29, 1935 health resort Oberwiesenthal at the foot of the Fichtelberg is at 915 m above sea level the highest town in Germany and the winter sports resort in the Ore Mountains, which has the most overnight stays. The city bears the title of state-approved climatic health resort. The Fichtelberg near Oberwiesenthal in the Erzgebirge district is 1214.79 m above sea level. NHN1 the highest mountain in Saxony. The Fichtelberg was also the highest mountain in the GDR. Together with the nearby Klínovec (Keilberg; 1243.7 m n.m.) on the Czech side, it forms the most important winter sports center in the Ore Mountains. Height 1214.79 m above sea level NN 1 The Klínovec (German Keilberg, formerly: sun vortex) is 1243.7 m n.m. the highest point in the Ore Mountains. It is located in the Karlovy Vary region of the Czech Republic. Together with the Fichtelberg in German Saxony, which is less than 4 km away, it forms the most important winter sports area in the Ore Mountains. On the west flank of the mountain, a German area reaches up to 80 meters below the summit. Height 1243.7 m a.s.l. (Wikipedia)

An exciting tour, we climb three peaks. At first we go partly along the country road and later up the cycle path. Always surrounded by greenery, we reach the highest peak in the Ore Mountains, the Keilberg. The path down again is rustic and beautiful, then we go back up to the Kleiner Fichtelberg and then to the Fichtelberg. Despite or because of the thick gray clouds around us, we get a unique atmosphere. The distant views that accompany us on the way are fantastic, crowned by the views from the observation towers. Priceless moments. The whole report will follow. In the meantime, have fun with my other hikes https://www.youtube.com/@DerWandererMitHutde/videos

The path first leads across the border to the Czech Republic on Hofberg Strasse with a beautiful view. Further up to the highest mountain in the Ore Mountains, the Keilberg. After a stony descent via Bozi Dar back to the border. Continue over the small Fichtelberg up to the Fichtelberg. All in all, a very beautiful route with many views, always top trails and a lot of small springs.

Highly recommended this tour and very well signposted 👍

Despite the mediocre weather, we set out today to climb the two highest mountains in the Ore Mountains from Germany's highest city (I wouldn't have thought so). It was also a nice training ride for next Saturday.

This tour is a combination of tour 33 and 34 from the Rother Erzgebirge hiking guide and from another book. Brief description of the tour: from the highest mountain in Saxony to the highest mountain in the Ore Mountains. The tour begins in the car park at the valley station of the Fichtelberg cable car. Day ticket: 6€ If you want to save yourself the fairly steep climb at the beginning, you can of course also take the cable car up. From the Großer Fichtelberg it goes straight to the Kleiner Fichtelberg. Passing the Sachsenbaude, it then goes to Klinovec (Keilberg) on the Czech side. On both mountains you have the most beautiful view from the lookout tower. The descent from Klínovec leads steeply down the ski slope and then on paved paths. Also quite a long stretch on the road, which I personally don't like that much. Shortly before Oberwiesenthal it goes again between meadows on a grassy path to the village, where we could even observe the increasingly rare whinchat.

Made extensive use of the beautiful weather again 🙋🏻‍♂️ Today I went on the Sylke Otto Tour. Wherever you look, they are preparing for winter ☃️ I deviated from the tour for the descent from Fichtelberg and instead used the Krömersteig and the Schönjungferngrund (I didn't see any 🤪). All in all it was a nice tour 🙋🏻‍♂️

Today I hiked the Sylke Otto Tour in great hiking weather. Nice tour with a stop in a small beer garden in Bozi Dar to quench your thirst 🍺. All in all just perfect 🙋🏻‍♂️
