We are now in the Hochschwarzwald for another three days. Nature here is still a few weeks behind and the weather has also changed, it has become quite cold and it was cloudy during our hike. We still enjoyed the Hirtenweg, it is also a path with beautiful trails, many resting places and great views.
Because of the weather, we decided to go on a short hike today. I couldn't recognize any of the pictures on the suggested highlights, however; the weather was great everywhere, and today there was a thick layer of snow everywhere. The path is easy to walk, first downhill, then uphill for the second half. Forest and meadows alternate. There are interesting signs along the path explaining how the shepherd boys used to live. All in all, a nice walk.
Once again inspired by Barbara, 🙏🙏 we actually wanted to run a larger lap from Lenzkirch. It was due to the enormous heat that we decided to go for the short version (i.e. the gourmet path). Short - but always good! Description of the tour: https://www.outdooractive.com/de/route/wandern/schwarzwald/geniesserpfad-hochschwarzwaelder-hirtenpfad/15247196/ Have run this short, beautiful round again after 6 years. Very quiet and secluded. However, it should be noted that the circuit is very sunny and offers little shade, so you have to be careful with "pure sun". Otherwise, indeed a gourmet trail!
We needed a third stamp for our Black Forest Pass, so we chose the Shepherd's Path, as it sounded very promising due to its history. The children and we found the path very varied, exciting and, thanks to the many information boards, also super interesting! Lots of history !! Highly Recommended.
Today we went on the High Black Forest Shepherd's Path in Raitenbuch. A very nice hike with wonderful views.
The descriptions almost everywhere say...easy...comfortable...etc. But that's not quite the case. It's an easier tour, but it does have its moments. On one side you walk 3 km downhill...on narrow paths. Then on the other side it goes steeply uphill again. You should take that into account. OK, there are hikers who say...hey...super easy...but like I said, I say it without ego 😀...there are some strenuous passages. But the tour is worth it.
... looking for snow. The snow app said 10-15 cm!? That was probably not the current situation. So what. The hike was still nice. However, some sections on the north slope were a bit icy. Be careful!
A wonderful and surprising hike, very interesting even without a summit and impressive views over meadows and valleys. I find the shepherd's tables exciting. 🤓 to read Last tour from the southern Black Forest 🙋🏻🙋🏻♀️ vacation
