Calanque de Port Miou to the calanque d’en vau – loop in the Parc national des Calanques

A pretty tour with beautiful views, a bit of an up and down steep climb but accessible to everyone.

Very pleasant hike with optional swimming 😃. The route starts from the car park of the Presqu'ile de Cassis and crosses the coves of Port-Miou, Port-Pin and En-Vau. You have to leave early in the morning to walk in the cool and plan the outing for the day with a small picnic and plenty of water 😉. This is an outing for hikers who are a little bit trained. No major difficulty except for a slightly tricky descent towards the Calanque d'En-Vau. The return is via a beautiful panoramic path that overlooks the coves of En-Vau then Port-Pin. If you can avoid summer or the weekend, it's still better, you will enjoy more the magnificent environment of the coves and in particular that of En Vau!

Literally translated, a calanque is a narrow, deep bay with steep edges. Half an hour from Toulon, in Cassis we combine a coastal hike with the Calanque D'en-Vau. The goal: the picturesque, deserted beach of d'En-Vau. At first we stroll quite casually past the marina of Cassis. After an initial climb we switch to mountain goat mode. The trail criss-crosses the bushes over more rocks than sticks. After just 25 minutes we reach the first of the two beaches - the Calanque de Port Pin. Due to the short walk time, the pebble beach is quite busy. We dip our feet in the water for a moment. We then move on, along the still small trail along the steep coast. After two hours of up and down we are rewarded with our first incredibly beautiful view of the Calanque d'en Vau. Unbelievably beautiful, the majestic landscape of rugged rocks in front of us and the deep bay with the azure sea below us. After an adventurous descent, we are down in the gorge an hour later. The rocks tower up to the right and left, while the children long for the sea. And then another three hours or 6km and we are there. What a sight, between the steep rock walls, the small bay. Like a painting. Let's get into the sea. We enjoy the time on the beach until late in the afternoon, hunting fish, looking for crabs, jumping from the small rocks into the water - simply wonderful, with as little hustle and bustle as possible. We shorten the return journey to four kilometers via the interior of the country, before arriving back at the starting point after another 10km. We have recorded the tour on Komoot so that you can follow it. It is best to park in the residential area around Av. de Calanques. Each hour costs one euro (via credit card or the app)

The originally downloaded tour is no longer possible. From the Calanque de Port Pin, the route follows a new path. The whole way also takes more like 4 hours. The descent to the Calanque de En Veau is high alpine. Sturdy shoes are required.

Difficult hike due to its altitude difference * but also due to the paths: very wide at the beginning, no worries. Then the adventure begins; a lot of stones on the path, on the way back I wanted to go off the marked trails and it was a bad experience. Slippery rock. For this hike I took walking poles, Camel 2 l tank and trail shoes. Take hiking shoes. It's better.
