What are the main points of interest along the route?

You'll pass by the charming Path to Rifugio Lausen, the historic Malga Sengio Rosso, and the renovated Rifugio Lausen itself. A major highlight is the Valle delle Sfingi (Valley of the Sphinxes), known for its unique, sphinx-like rock formations created by karst erosion. From Rifugio Lausen, you can enjoy stunning panoramic views extending from the Po Valley to the Apennines, and even glimpse Venice on clear days.

Trail Reviews

Giorgio
August 6, 2023, Rifugio Lausen — giro ad anello nel Parco Naturale Regionale della Lessinia

An excellent, easy and satisfying tour that can be done easily in half a day, or rather in a couple of hours, walking slowly.

Translated by Google

You can park your car in the parking lot at the foot of the village of Camposilvano. From here continue on foot on the road (SP6) towards San Giorgio and as soon as you pass the town, take the first dirt road on the right. After a few steps you arrive at the valley called "The Valley of the Sphinxes" (once Vajo del Brutto), characterized by the presence of particular monolithic blocks whose shapes recall the Egyptian sphinxes, it is an erosive phenomenon of disintegration of the layers of Red Limestone Ammonite and San Vigilio Oolite. You walk among the "sphinxes" to the end of the dirt road where the Malga Buse di sotto is located. Go up along the meadow towards the Buse di Sopra hut. Beyond the hut we find ourselves on the ridge of the Sengio Rosso characterized by the Croce dei Norderi, an element in ammonite red which is located on the side of the path. Continue along the dirt road on the ridge with a truly suggestive panorama. It runs alongside the Norderi hut and you reach a crossroads where you turn right where the sign indicates the Lausen refuge. Cross Malga Sengio Rosso and descend until you reach the refuge slightly downhill. After stopping at the refuge, go down on a concrete surface and at the end of the road, turn right onto a dirt road. Continue through the districts of Battisteri Foi and Tecchie and take the first dirt road between walls made of Lessinia stones, then keep left and follow the CAI trail signs. Climb up through the meadows until you reach the Croce del Gal where you turn right. At the next junction, keep the path slightly uphill to the left until you cross the district of Kunek and from here on an asphalted surface you arrive at the Geopaleontological museum. At the end of the road you return to the parking lot. VARIATION: after the descent to the Lausen refuge, instead of taking the road that leads to the museum, you return - going up a short slope - to connect to the valley of the Sphinxes, as per the gpx track.
