Yes, this route largely follows the 'Sentiero del Brigante - Tappa 8' for its entire length. It also briefly intersects with sections of the 'Sentiero dei Fuoristrada per le cascate del Marmarico' and the 'Sentiero per la cascata del Marmarico', offering connections to other local routes.
For this moderate hike, we recommend bringing plenty of water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes, appropriate clothing for the weather, sun protection, and a first-aid kit. A map or GPS device is also advisable for navigation, even on well-marked trails.
This trail primarily passes through natural areas within the Parco Naturale Regionale delle Serre. Facilities like cafes or public restrooms are unlikely to be found directly on the trail itself. It's best to plan for these amenities in nearby villages like Bivongi before or after your hike.
With its 114 m, the waterfall is the highest in Calabria.
Parking at Bivongi Church. Then about 3.5 km along the asphalt road, then on a service road to a path towards Cascate. This path is narrow and always along the water. We went in heavy rain and had to be a little careful on the narrow sections over rocks because of the risk of slipping. In the end, however, we are rewarded with a beautiful waterfall, even if we cannot swim because of the rain. The way back is the same as the way there.
