What a welcome from our bike destination with a sunny 24 degrees and an optimal course of our arrival: At 1 p.m. we were already sitting on our Hürzeler bikes and visited the Alcudia Bay with the Cap de Pinat and the Erimit of Victoria. A wonderful road with almost no traffic with a fantastic view towards Cap Formentor. There is a quiet and beautiful place with cake and coffee at the Erimit and then definitely drive out the street until the street ends due to the military restricted area. Wonderful.
I've been checking out a few routes/sections in the last few days to avoid traffic as much as possible. Thanks to @Hackebeil who was a good source of inspiration for this 😊 The tour was really beautiful, I rarely made so many photo stops, although it was also brutally hot. I'll do the really big tours another time in spring or autumn.
I finally made it and am back on the island. This somehow creates chaos. There was another strike at the airport, luckily it only affected the security staff for the employees. That's probably why there was such chaos at the security check. Despite the delay, I arrived almost on time, was almost the first to get my suitcase and promptly found the Hürzeler shuttle service. Only then I was informed again that I was only one of six people. So I had to wait, it took longer than expected. When the bus finally left, my hotel was the last on the list, not great either. However, everything went perfectly at reception, there was no one in front of me to pick up the same thing from the bike. So I was already sitting on the cube at 3 p.m., although only the Attain, the agreement was supposedly only available after pre-ordering, but I couldn't reserve it online. But that didn't matter to me now, the sun was shining, the temperatures were wonderfully warm with an average of 19°C. Of course I was dressed too warmly, who can believe the weather when you come from Germany. So we went on a short tour, and there were some streets that I didn't even know yet. That's why I occasionally missed the turnoff. First I cycled to Port d'Alcudia with a slight tailwind. That was nice when the bike was running so well. There I cycled towards Mal Pas, some of the route I still knew from hiking in the summer. I had probably forgotten that the climb there was so long. It was quite slow, but the descent was nice if there weren't those artificial bumps that appeared from time to time. With the late sun it was difficult to see them through the shadows of the trees. I had already hiked the route to Alcudia and it is also beautiful by bike. So I came out of Alcudia at the old city wall, which is even accessible. I didn't know the subsequent stretch to Sa Marina either, but it's easy to cycle and you avoid the main road. I actually wanted to turn off again immediately after crossing the main road, but I missed the exit. Since a group of cyclists came rushing up from behind at that very moment, I didn't want to turn around. At least my new Bolt v2 automatically calculates a new route to get back to the old one. I still have to get used to this function. The route afterwards was partly new to me, at least by bike. However, it is scenically beautiful, with views of the Albufera Nature Reserve and the mountain range on the other side. On top of that, I finally saw my feathered friends again, there were a few goldfinches flying around. After the stretch of main road it was a nice route again, but very varied, with climbs, descents and curves. I could only cycle slowly, it was too confusing and the road was a bit narrow, but also beautiful. Only the stretch of main road wasn't ideal, but there is also a wide shoulder so that the cars didn't bother us. Here the bike ran wonderfully fast on the surface, but the view wasn't that optimal. So I was happy when I was able to turn. But I now had a noticeable headwind as I cycled through the vegetable fields near sa Pobla. Well, of course that also belongs to an island. I could really feel the wind on the climb up to Muro. It takes a long time and cycling through the town wasn't ideal either. But at the end there was a nice foresight. However, you weren't allowed to look down; at the end of the curves there was an ambulance and some cyclists. As I was leaving, they signaled that I should take the curve slowly. I'm guessing it's rolled gravel, even though I didn't see anything. As a burned child, I naturally slowly crept around the curve. After the descent there was another climb and then I cycled along wonderful side roads again. In the end I had to get on the main road to Can Picafort. Apparently it was already late enough, the traffic was limited and on the subsequent stretch back I finally had the wind at my back, at least the bike was running surprisingly quickly. The round was even nicer because I no longer expected to get on my bike. Plus the pleasant temperatures, sunshine and a simply beautiful landscape. The many blooming flowers, the old gnarled olive trees, almond trees and of course lots of sheep. You just have to love that.
