Super beautiful floodplain landscape. A bit humid in places. Beautiful old trees 🌳 🌳 and willows. In midsummer it is certainly too hot and there are too many mosquitoes. Then a bit of a drive to the Fischerklause

With over 2,400 hectares, the Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue between Frankfurt and Darmstadt is the largest nature reserve in Hesse and, at the same time, one of the largest true floodplain nature reserves in Germany.
As a natural flood area of the Rhine, it creates a habitat for numerous rare animal and plant species and also serves for flood protection.

Hike along the Old Rhine with a spontaneous visit to the environmental education center "Schatzinsel Kühkopf".
Here, nature, climate protection, floodplain landscapes... are brought closer to interested visitors. In an interactive, exciting way. There is a lot to try out and discover and all of this is free/donation-based, great!
