Erwein's Rest

Highlight • Natural Monument

Count Erwein von Schönborn zu Wiesentheid repaired Rabenstein Castle. In addition, a promenade path with facilities had been created around the castle on both sides of the valley. At this point near the castle was one of his favorite spots.

Barefoot hike!
But not recommended, as the gravel and tar portion of the entire route is far too high

It's Tour 12 from the book "Mystical Paths". The small additional detours to the caves and the Schweinsberg view really made us sweat. We will visit the Sophienhöhle on Sunday with the hiking group.

Start of today's tour was the parking lot between the tourist information and school in Waischenfeld. From there our hike led us to Rabenstein Castle. Since our actual goal was the stalactite cave "Sophienhöhle", we only visited the castle from the outside in order to get to the Sophienhöhle via a beautiful forest path. Unlike the Devil's Cave, where guided …

From Bischof-Nausea-Platz in the direction of Rathaus I, turn left in front of the Rathaus and cross the bridge. Follow the riverside path and sculpture path downstream past the hammer mill to the powder mill. After the powder mill, turn left into the Wassertal. Straight on at the next junction. Cross the road between Waischenfeld and Oberailsfeld and continue in …

Today, on Trinity Sunday, I had to do my duties before I could start hiking. My tour was therefore not too long, so that I was able to spend enough time in Waischenfeld at the end of the hike.
A successful day of hiking.
