September 24, 2024,Wainwright #3 - Howtown to Patterdale via Hallin Fell Trig
Take the boat from Glenridding up to Howtown (£10pp) and walk back to with this route. The first climb is especially steep up to Hallin fell so not to do in wet conditions as it will be slippy with this route but the 360 views are stunning.
I made this trekking tour with my wife and an 11yo boy. Planned with komoot and underestimated the trail, considering it basically flat. It's actually a series of up and down following a path along the lake, sometimes it's a nice gravel path, sometimes it becomes very stony/rooty and definitely wet. It took almost 3 hrs for a little more …

The Ullswater Way - had a nightmare with Kamoot so missed the first bit of day one and the second bit of day 2, but 37km over 2 days, thigh deep snow and -10 at times and a large slide/fall down a mountainside.. Great weekend!.
Cracking low level route, perfect for a windy or wet day. Watch out for the climb up to 400m in the saddle! Then a lovely drop back down to Patterdale with great views of Ullswater 👍🏼
