The Mendener mill was in the Middle Ages outside the city walls. With its mill ditch, the castle mill is the oldest mill in Menden and was probably built in the 14th century.
The current building dates from the beginning of the 16th century. It consists of two floors and a high hipped roof.
Interesting is the stem with the old pulley. The mill was equipped with a ban right. This meant that all inhabitants of the urban area of Menden and its parish had to grind their grain on the castle mill.
Inside, a gastronomy for a long time has been housed.
The taproom still illustrates the size and beauty of the former castle mill.
