Coast Path and View of Woody Bay

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Great view over Woody Bay when approaching from the west. The route has a lot of ups and downs so you can see the Bay from way up (but need to walk down and up to reach the sea!)

Heddon's Mouth Viewpoint, South West Coast Path

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

This is a brilliant section of the South West Coast Path. It's a stunning single track trail with the huge blue sea below and heather covered moorland above. Fairly rocky and twisty in places, so you do have to keep your eyes on the trail, but brilliant fun to run in either direction.

A really great single track section of the South West Coast Path leading into or out of Heddon's Mouth Cleeve.

Underfoot the trail is gravelly and grippy, technical but fine to run fast if you concentrate.

This glorious little stone bridge spans the River Heddon just up from its mouth. It's cloaked in woodland and is a wonderfully serene spot. From here, you can walk along the river on either side down to the sea or upriver. The Hunter's Inn isn't far, if you're peckish.

High up on the cliffs, with views stretching for miles-upon-miles, this is glorious section of the South West Coast Path. Let the sea breeze reinvigorate the senses.

Holdstone Hill Summit View

Highlight • Viewpoint

You are rewarded with superb views along the coast from the cairn on Holdstone Hill. To the west is Lundy Island, Exmoor lies to the east and the shores of Wales are north.

You might just get more than lovely views, though. According to the religious beliefs of the Aertherius Society, Holdstone Down is a very special place. Aertherians believe that Jesus appeared to their founder Dr George King — in a spaceship, no less — on Holdstone Down on July 23,1958. His followers hold a service to connect with space people on Holdstone Down as it is believed to be the site of contacts with extraterrestrial beings or alien peoples.

Amazing views across the Bristol Channel and of the South Wales coast, the path meanders between steep cliffs thought mixed forest of ash, larch, birch, oak, and rare whitebeams.

You can see Buzzards a-plenty, and also peregrine falcons, red deer and woodpeckers here.
