Göhrener Tor

Highlight • Historical Site

Historically, the "Göhren Gate" was part of the Lichtenwald deer enclosure in the middle of the 18th century. On the one hand, it served as a transport link between Neuhausen and Göhren (Kliny). On the other hand, it prevented game from escaping from the enclosure, which was up to 2575 hectares in size. After 1931, the areas were reduced, the gate fell into disrepair, and the connecting path to Bohemia was no longer used after 1945. This hiking connection has been open again since 2007. An information board with a seating area reminds us of earlier times.

Fláje Dam

Highlight • Monument

The Fláje dam (Czech Údolní nádrž Fláje) is located in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains near Český Jiřetín ("Georgendorf") and dams the Flöha (Czech Flájský potok) in its upper reaches.

The only pillar dam in the Czech Republic was completed in 1963. The dam is used as a drinking water reservoir for the Most district. The dam is 56 m high and 416 m (with “dam crown” (crown structure?) 459 m) long. The Fláje Dam reservoir covers an area of 153 hectares. The water is stowed from a catchment area of approx. 43 km².

Two larger and one small hydropower plant with outputs of 2 x 4 MW and 16 kW use the dam water to generate electricity. The flowing water is dammed up again in the Rauschenbach dam below.

Site of the Former Village of Fleyh/Fláje

Highlight • Historical Site

The place Fleyh was settled with the construction of the dam between 1958/60. It got its name from the river Flöha, on whose upper course it was located. The German population was expelled after 1945. The church was rebuilt in Český Jiřetín.
