Chapel of Our Lady of Compassion-Bâtiaz, Martigny
This richly decorated place of worship is located at the foot of the rock face crowned by the Château de la Bâtiaz.
The small chapel of Our Lady of Compassion houses a remarkable collection of colorful votive tablets and magnificent stained glass windows made by Father Kim En Joong. The votive tablets, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, decorate the right wall of the chapel. The stained glass windows made by Father Kim En Joong were installed in 2014 thanks to the generosity of Leonard Gianadda.

Pont de la Bâtiaz (wooden bridge), Martigny
This is the last wooden bridge in Valais that is still navigable.
Here, a bridge was swept away by the floods of the Dranse river in 1635 and later by the Giétroz debacle (1818). A new bridge was then built in 1829, covered with a structure supported by larch wood arches. The bridge was consolidated in 1920 and is the last arched bridge in Valais that is still navigable.

View of Chateau de la Batiaz

Highlight • Castle

The castle stands on the mountain and watches over Martigny. At the end of a tour easy to reach on foot, there is a nice view over the city and into the Valais.
