Gondola Pond in Braunlage Spa Park

Already in the years 1908 and 1909 the spa pond was created as a gondola pond. In the summer months, the spa guests could ride on it with rowing boats and in winter was ice skating on the frozen waters and played ice hockey. In addition, they were active here in his time popular curling. The actual spa park was built only in the years 1928 to 1931. It contained u.a. a music pavilion and an artificial grotto at the concert place. The design was based on plans by Bad Pyrmont garden director W. Dirks. In 1950, a foyer for 800 people was built on the west side of the park. This building was replaced in 1976 by today's, more modern and larger Kurgastzentrum with a total of 2,300 m² floor space. In this is u.a. a concert hall holding about 1000 people.
