Bench by the Pond

Highlight • Rest Area

It doesn't always have to be a particularly beautiful bench.
It does this too, especially in a pond.

Holy Cross Church Bevern

Highlight • Religious Site

A striking feature is the idiosyncratic church tower. Yes, it is filled with some golden balls on the church spire that shine wonderfully in the sun.

As of now (June 2020) there is the "hearty hour" from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with delicious little things from the grill.

Heimathaus complex Plönjeshausen

Highlight • Historical Site

The authentic half-timbered ensemble from the past centuries offers insights into the artisanal and rural life of the "good old days". You can visit the sheepfold, bakery, drive-through barn, free-standing clay oven, carriage shed, Göpelschauer with Rosswerk and a reconstructed barn that serves as a museum barn. Exhibitions of agricultural equipment and machines and the weaving room complete the experience.

Malstedt Watermill

Highlight • Monument

The water mill in Malstedt is already as old as the village itself. Already in 1132 it was mentioned in a document. However, the existing mill was first built in 1763. Since the beginning of the last century until today it is owned by Ilka-M. and Bernd Sturm.

Originally, the mill was powered by two water wheels, which have been replaced by turbines since 1907. During this time, she also served as a sawmill in addition to painting.

During the Second World War, the mill fell victim to the flames, as did most of Malstedt. The watermill was rebuilt shortly after the end of the war. Since that time, the mill was operated as a modern feed factory, before the operation was completely discontinued in 2002. Thereafter, the mill facilities were dismantled and converted into apartments.
