Deufringen Castle

Highlight • Castle

The builder of the castle, which still exists today, was Jakob von Gültlingen (d. 1600). A stone on the ground floor bearing the date 1592 likely marks the start of construction. In order to begin the prestigious new construction of his family residence, he had to take on significant debt. In 1592, he also asked his sovereign for permission to pledge the village of Deufringen as collateral to a lender for 12 years. In his letter, he lamented the dilapidated condition of the old half-timbered building his ancestors had erected there, which clearly no longer met his standards for a residence befitting his status. Elsewhere, for example, in Mauren (1617), Mötzingen (from c. 1581-83), and Poltringen, the local nobility also invested in new, modern family residences.

June 9, 2025,Schloss Deufringen – Storrenberg - Höhnle
A short loop, mostly on beautiful meadow paths around Deufringen and Dachtel. Beautiful views from Storrenberg and Höhnle. Since the trails mostly don't run through the forest, this tour is not recommended on hot days.

Today is a holiday, and now what? A hike🥾 was planned! We definitely didn't want to walk in the rain☔️. So we had to re-plan because we got a fair bit of rain🌧️! We quickly looked in the app and trusted that it would be dry in the direction of Stuttgart in the morning. A tour was quickly found and …

🅿️ Saturday afternoon at the castle in Deufringen, from here we went up the wooden path to the Sängerlinden. We continued along a beautiful forest path and through meadows to the Storrenberg nature reserve - a very beautiful juniper heath, with great trees and benches. Here we enjoyed the sun 🌞 and the landscape on Saturday afternoon. Through the heath, …

Juniper heaths, hedges and orchards - here you will find many very typical natural elements of the Heckengäu and create a landscape like in the old days! You will often come across woolly four-legged landscapers who add bright splashes of color to the green surroundings …

Yesterday evening it got quite late because of birthday celebrations and today the sky was a bit gloomy so you couldn't be sure whether the weather would stay dry. So it was better to go on a tour nearby. So we decided on a country tour. We started in Deufringen on Irmweg (corner of Gäustraße) by the old glass container …

Beautiful circular hike with the Black Forest Association, this route is very well signposted and provides a lot of information

Our goal was a sunny walk along lushly blooming blackthorn hedges. The hedges still need a bit of blooming, though, and instead of sunshine, a cold wind whistled.

It was still lovely, a Sunday walk through nature with the four of us.
