Brecherspitz West Ridge

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The Brecherspitz ridge is a wonderful mountain hiking experience. You should be free from giddiness and sure-footedness, but you don't need climbing skills. There are wonderful views of the Spitzing and Schliersee as well as the Almkessel, which surrounds the ridge.

Brecherspitz

Highlight • Summit

Great tour to the Brecherspitz, but goes up the mountain from the alpine side. The tour from the car park at the mountain saddle is only for experienced hikers who also want to climb. There are about two to three places on the five meter high mountain face that have to be climbed without safety gear. The walls are grippy and easy to overcome in summer.

This is a really lovely welcome view. Like a good welcome drink when you walk in a spa, but just mountains instead. The first Mountain View of the hike if you come from Neuhaus. But as many other hikers said, the view is even better on the peak, Brecherspitz 😎

What a beautiful hike😁
The weather was glorious. The atmosphere was harmonious and breathtaking. I enjoyed it so much.

Great hike to Brecherspitz. Great weather, and the Ankelalm was open on the first day as well. A quite challenging tour. Less in terms of the sheer elevation gain, but more in terms of surefootedness.

I found the climb to the Ankl Alm quite steep, and the descent was even worse. The climb over the Freudenreich Chapel is also not easy, with steep climbs and scrambling sections. Choosing this route for the descent would be unthinkable for me. Good fitness and flexibility are required, but the ridge crossing is overrated.

From Neuhaus we went to the Ankel Alm and then further up the north ridge to the Brecherspitz. After a break at the summit cross, we continued over the west ridge to the lower summit and then on to the Freudenreich chapel. Actually, we wanted to continue following the ridge back to the car. But nothing came of it, the …

You can extend the tour by walking past the Anklspitz on the left. Then you have a real circular tour, but it takes considerably longer and the descent is also much more difficult. In winter you can only walk the hike when there is very little snow, like now in 01/2023.

The hike from Neuhaus to Brecherspitz is a challenging tour in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. Starting in Neuhaus, the path leads steeply through forests to the Ankelalm (1,335 m), which is ideal for a break. From the alpine pasture, the path becomes steeper and rockier, and finally leads to the exposed ridge. This ridge path to Brecherspitz (1,683 …

From the Neuhaus train station, it goes steeply over exposed grass slopes to the beautiful Ankelspitze (if you are not sure-footed and free from giddiness, you should rather take the normal route via the Ankelalm). Then it is easier to walk along the ridge until the path meets the normal path to the wonderful Freudenreich chapel. The chapel is a …
