The Waterfront Trail runs along Pickering Beach where you can enjoy sweeping views across Lake Ontario.

Watch sailboats coming and going from Frenchman's Bay Marina and, on a clear day, look out for the Toronto skyline on the horizon.

The sandy beach and waterfront park also make a great spot for a picnic or a quick dip in summer.

Pedestrian Bridge over Rouge River

Access to Rouge Beach and the pedestrian bridge over the Rouge River on the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail is closed from late 2025 until approximately spring 2027. As part of the Rouge Beach Improvements Project, the wetland in Rouge National Urban Park between Highway 401 and Lake Ontario will be enhanced, including the restoration of the Rouge marsh landscape and the creation of a hiking trail connecting the southern part of the wetland with the well-developed part north of Highway 401, the Mast Trail.
Detour recommendations for the Waterfront Trail are indicated on information boards and the Parks Canada website.
